:: ssSnake Shorts :: SeReNe's Singapore Summer Staple

Hi everyone! As you all most probably know, 50% of the time, I reach for shorts because of the comfort it offers. This recent addition was picked up when the bff and I went for a quick shopping trip together! I have always love drawing out the different colours in a complexly coloured piece of clothing and this shorts was the piece for today's outfit. I fished out my treasured Chloe Louise bag in Rouge Vintage (a rich wine colour) and decided to go easy on the footwear. I chose a pair of neutral pumps with black accents and finished with a men sized rose gold watch. =D

I have tried the current trend of loading up on arm swag previously but quickly found that an overload of accessories was just NOT my style. I know of ladies who look very polished and can carry off this trend so well but it simply wasn't me. I felt so cluttered. =X I have always loved rings, earrings and the occasional bangle or bracelet but have never been a big fan of necklaces. I love the feeling of being free and feel strangled whenever I put on a necklace. I actually wrenched off a gold necklace in my sleep when I was but a child(Mommy made me wear it for the Chinese Lunar New Year!). Hahahahahahah!! =P I do love a nice watch to complement my outfits though! I blame this on Jo.

:: Backdated :: SeReNe's Haze Uniform 1

This was taken on Sunday the 16th of June and I think of it as a premonition of what was to come. My daily outfits that is! Singapore was hit by the worst haze in a decade and the PSI readings went up to the 400s (highest previously was 226 in 1997)! I have been feeling so unwell due to my recovering from my bad throat and cough, and the haze just made it all worse! =( =( I'm on an inhaler and a nose spray again. Sighs.

As comfort has always and will always be my top priority, I find myself reaching for shorts and maxi skirts all the time this past week! Besides the suffocating haze, the weather was warmer and more humid than ever. I needed air-conditioning 24/7! I wish we had taken some pics of a maxi skirt outfit I put on in the past week but truth be told, I was feeling a little grouchy(it was also the day Q was feeling bitchy. LOL!!!). ;p

I hope you enjoyed the pictures showcasing our clear skyline. We sure didn't see much of it this past week after that day. =P

* Upon looking at the pics again, I realized that the sky was looking a tad gloomy. Or is it just me? =/

It's NOT over yet, the past 36 hours was simply a brief respite, an illusion and a mirage! Keep your aircleaner on if you own one and if you don't, stay in airconditioned rooms. Keep healthy and stay safe!

XOXO!!!

- Summer Sunshine -

Happy weekend people!! =D Are you enjoying your weekend? Sorry for squinting in the pic above! =P It WAS sunny!! I know Mom, Dad, Popo(my maternal grammy) and my baby sis must be having a ball of a time right now. They took a weekend trip to Perth for some much needed and well deserved R&R. It's winter there now and we're broiling here in Singapore's year round summer! >_____ < ||| What won't I give for four seasons? =P

In this abominable weather, I often reach for shorts when preparing my OOTDs. For today's look, I wanted a little more polish than my usual weekend garb. So I fished out this butter yellow silk top that I have yet to wear since picking it up almost half a year back, and found it a friend in my new H&M spotted shorts!

Don't you just love the creamy baby yellow colour of the blouse against the white and black of these shorts? =D It really cheered me up immensely!

My electric mint Mini Rider couldn't wait to join the summer party together with my heeled white sandals!

.: Maxi Flash! :.

Hi guys!!

I'm sure all of you are looking forward to the weekend! Tristan and I were in a bit of a rush yesterday and only managed a quick pic before dashing off. =P

Hehehe... sometimes when I'm uploading our blog pics, I cannot help but think how much I love the lighting of this little alleyway just outside our home! =D All the photos we took in the past couple of weeks were not edited in any way at all (I must say that Tristan does like to play with the lighting and filters in Line camera though!) but I just love love LOVE lighting, don't you? It's like my personal runway! =D =D

We really hope to bring you pictures with pretty backgrounds and beautiful scenery so... please be patient and wait till September. Hahahahahahahaah! For now, work and studies call!

Thank you for looking and tata for now! *^. ^*

"What's in my Bag?" :: Chloe Louise Bag

Happy Wednesday! =D I had some requests on what my Louise bag can house so we decided to click some pictures before I changed my bag for the next day.

These pictures were taken in a corner of our closet and I have to share that the Vintage Rouge colour of the bag looks very different in different lighting. It's spectrum of colours ranges from a deep wine red to a medium brownish red. Tristan and Jo both love the colour of this bag to bits! <3

From top left in clockwise:

1. Coach pouch - For some of my cosmetics for touch ups throughout the day.

2. Louis Vuitton Epi leather key pouch

3. Louis Vuitton Multicolore Zippy coin purse

4. Medication and lozenges

5. M)phosis tissue pouch

6. Amazon Kindle 3G

7. Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Thanks to my father's genes (Thanks Daddy! LOL!)... I'm usually pretty organized when it comes to my personal belongings e.g. cosmetics, skincare, clothes, bags and shoes. As you can see from the interior of my bag, every item has it's own little crook. =) I can fish out each item blindfolded! I just wish my larger bags were neater. I hate it when my things roll around in my bigger bags and get all messed up! Do you think a bag organizer will really solve the problem? Do share with me your thoughts! ^ . ^

Thank you for looking! =D XOXO!!

: Monochrome : Scalloped collar, colourblock kitten heels & rouge accents

Hi Everyone! Sorry for disappearing for abit. =X  I'm currently down with a very bad cough (since a week back) that keeps me up at night. I have also lost my voice for the very first time in my life. That stinks for a person who loves to talk and laugh. =( We are now trying everything we can get our hands on! Honey, chinese smoked plums boiled in water, herbal tea, all sorts of lozenges etc.

Due to the fact that I have been feeling ill and coughing my lungs off, I decided on a very simple outfit today. Monochrome with some red accents. I also fished out a pair of colourblock kitten heels for maximum comfort. We only managed a couple of quick pics before dashing off to work! We usually have only about 2-3 minutes for photo taking in the morning. We wake up, drink some water, shower, dress up, get ready (e.g. shave, style hair, put on makeup etc), book a cab (that's the reason why I sometimes have a phone in my hands), take some blog pics and scoot off! The typical life of a Singaporean. =P

I wish you all a smashing week and an even more awesome weekend ahead! As for me, I just want to recover and snack on all the chocolates and chips that are waiting for me in my refrigerator and larder! =X I'm really missing my Honey Dijon Kettle chips, Tyrell's cider vinegar chips, Reese's Peanut Butter cups, Whittaker's Fruit and Nut bar and Pocky strawberry biscuit sticks!!! All I have been eating are soupy stuff, porridge and bread. And don't forget the almighty H2O. Lots of it. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

Heels - Zara
Bag - Chloe Louise in Rouge Vintage

Thanks for dropping by! And remember to keep laughing! =D

p.s. Tomorrow is the 12th of June and it's my dearest, darlingest Mommy's birthday <3! =D On a more serious note, it is also the day my Big Ah Ku (2nd Uncle, my mom's baby bro) is undergoing a minor heart bypass. Daddy has forbidden me to visit Ah Ku due to his lowered immunity and my prolonged cough. So please please please keep both of them in your prayers. Thank you!

Hello Weekend!! (^ . ^ )*/

Tristan and I picked up this Furla bag in Verona, Italy, in early October last year. It was on our second honeymoon and using it always brings back such fond memories of the trip! =D It was also my first bag/ small leather good purchase on the Europe trip!

Most of you will know by now that I am a HUGE bagaholic and small leather goods(SLG) addict! I love bags since I was a little girl and can still remember every little girl handbag my Mom has ever bought for me. I used to change my schoolbag every night in high school and can still remember my paternal grandmother telling me that such a habit will result in me changing my husbands often. HAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!

On my 21st birthday, I got my very first highend bag, the Louis Vuitton Papillon. Till this day, almost a decade later, my bag is still in pristine condition. Every single time after I change my handbag, the bag that has been used sits on the floor of my closet awaiting its cleaning before it is returned to its specific shelf. We also invested in air-conditioning, a dehumidifier and a humidity monitor for our closet. I am anal and OCD like that. =P That is perhaps why Tristan and my parents NEVER nag me when I invest in quality pieces or when I get such bags or SLGs for my Mom and baby sis. Afterall, quality lasts. Time has certainly proven this point. I can vouch that it's money well spent! =D

I am still trying to get myself to invest in my first pair of Louboutins Pigalles or Valentino Rock Stud pumps. But... I can't justify stepping on 1K worth of shoes!!! Talk to me, ladies!!! Those of you who would rather spend on highend shoes! =X

I know of people like my Mom, Jo and Chey who don't mind shelling out good money on branded shoes as compared to bags. But I'm still stuck in my rut. I... C A N N O T. I can't be buying everything highend. Something has got to give... And I would rather get another new BAG any day! (^ _  ^)V

= Peplum Pink =

This peplum top has always been one of my favourites due to the structured peplum details, unique cut and hot pink colour! I have worn it with pants and jeans on previous occasions but wanted a more casual look especially with the current humid weather we are having in Singapore. I decided on a pair of white shorts to better bring out the hot pink of the top.

I have always favoured white shorts when pairing them with bright colours such as pinks, reds, turquoise, yellows etc. I just love the juxtaposition such combinations showcase.

As I was matching my shoes and bag to the outfit, I realized that I have been neglecting my Louis Vuitton bags of late. I have been in printed outfits pretty often lately and that means I usually reach for simpler and more understated bags with no loud monograms and prints. Surprisingly, with this pink and white attire, my simpler bags looked a tad boring and a lil too structured for my liking. Am I making any sense here? Lol!!

I was so surprised that one of my oldest bags, the LV Speedy 30, provided the finishing touch to today's outfit! The checked damier print was just right. Not too much or too little. And do you know what I missed most about this bag? Its space and its amazing light weight!

Have you been neglecting any of your bags? =P

:: Lines :: A light cotton waistcoat

In humid and sweltering hot Singapore, layering is always so difficult for someone who loves comfort as much as I do. My good friends JK and Cerella totally hit the nail on the head when they told me that "Comfort equals confidence" when it comes to me! =P Since young, I get frustrated and it shows on my face when I start sweating or have on prickly clothes. I would rather have on a comfortable cotton tee than a pretty dress that is thick and uncomfortable any day!

Thank goodness for cotton waistcoats such as this striped one I had on today! I felt so comfy and at ease the entire time I was wearing this outfit. As usual, it went through a little alteration before becoming a piece that I see myself keeping for years to come. Q and I came across this cotton waistcoat at a pasar malam (night market) near my home and picked it up for SGD10. It was an absolute steal! I was so elated that I found it so cheap and exactly the thing that I was looking for.

However, the waistcoat had 2 droopy pockets that I felt made the piece look frumpy and cheap. My trusted tailor removed it according to my request and I fell in love with it all over again. =)

You might have noticed that I am so addicted to this pair of heeled Zara sandals. I find myself reaching for it over and over again. It seems to go with everything. I definitely need more sandals in this style! ^ -  ^*
